According to the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, the number of criminal incidents and traffic accidents during Spring Festival in Guangdong saw a significant decrease compared to the previous year. At the same time, all 394 large-scale events and 227 4A-level (and above) tourist attractions in the province were held and kept in an orderly and safe manner.
During the Chinese New Year holiday, Guangdong province saw a 41.68% and 14.49% decrease in security-related criminal cases reports compared to the same period of time in 2019 and 2023 respectively, as well as a 38.03% and 10.26% decrease in various types of traffic accidents compared to 2019 and 2023 respectively. During the holiday, authorities apprehended 72 fugitives and 787 suspects involved in illegal activities.
Road traffic remained generally smooth during the festival, with no prolonged or widespread traffic congestion. A total of 394 large-scale public events were held throughout the province. Comprehensive measures, including crowd monitoring, traffic guidance, and public awareness campaigns, were implemented in all 227 4A-level (and above) tourist attractions, to safeguard visitors while creating a joyful and harmonious atmosphere.
Guangdong police ensured the safe and smooth travel of 38.031 million vehicles on highways. Coordinated efforts were made in the crackdown on street racing, night drunk-driving inspections, precision investigations, illegal taxis and electric motorcycle regulations, resulting in a total of 239,000 cases of traffic violations being addressed.
Safety was also ensured for 28,900 flights and 4.3931 million passengers traveling through 9 airports. Additionally, services were provided to ensure the safety of 8.472 million passengers at 161 railway stations across the province.
