The Cantonese cuisine enjoyed all over the world: Chaoshan cuisine

“Hongtou”, or red-head sampans, hold great cultural significance for the people in Guangdong’s Chaoshan region. On these sampans, their ancestors, full of ambition, sailed across the globe, connecting Chaoshan with the rest of the world. In the meantime, as a major branch of Cantonese cuisine, which is one of the four major cuisines of China, Chaoshan food has also played a significant role in intercultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world throughout history.
