On May 25, the launch ceremony and exchange activity of the 2024 China-US Youth Maker Competition were held at Southwest Jiaotong University. Representatives from 29 China-US Maker Exchange Centers nationwide and two observer representatives attended the event. Guangdong University of Finance & Economics's China-US Youth Maker Exchange Center was represented by Guo Xianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the International Business School, Yang Chun, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, and Zhao Ming, Director of the Department of Business Administration of the International Business School, who participated in the launching ceremony for exchange and learning.

The attending leaders and guests unanimously announced the launch of the 2024 China-US Youth Maker Competition and held the award ceremony for the 2023 China-US Youth Maker Center. Guangdong University of Finance & Economics's China-US Youth Maker Center received the "Award of Excellence in Innovative Practice," and Zhao Ming, a lecturer from the International Business School, received the "Outstanding Mentor" award.

With the strong support of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Guangdong University of Finance & Economics's Maker Center, operated by the International Business School, is committed to building an open and shared teaching, scientific research, and innovation exchange platform featuring "production-study-research-competition-entrepreneurship" integration.

The Maker Center has successfully passed the annual evaluation of the Ministry of Education for five consecutive years and has won two "Awards of Excellence in Innovative Practice" and one "Characteristic Construction Demonstration Award" of the China-US Youth Maker Exchange Center, with four teachers receiving the "Outstanding Mentor Award" of the China-US Youth Maker Exchange Center, as well as the "Outstanding Work Case Award" and "Outstanding Team Award."

To implement the consensus of the leaders of China and the United States and the achievements of the "Sino-US Social and Humanities Dialogue Joint Statement," from 2018 to the present, 26 universities, including Tsinghua University, and three enterprises have been designated as the China-US Youth Maker Exchange Center.

Huang Qingan, Dean of the International Business School, said that the China-US Youth Maker Competition is one of the most valuable and significant competitions in the national university lecturer teaching competition catalog and the university student subject competition catalog recognized by the Ministry of Education. The construction of the China-US Youth Maker Competition and the Innovation Center for China-US Youth Exchange is a highlight of the cultural exchange between China and the United States. As the first "China-US Youth Maker Exchange Center" in the Greater Bay Area, the university leadership has always cared about and supported the construction of the competition and the center, encouraging more students to form teams under the guidance of teachers to participate in the competition and exchange, and contribute to the cultivation of youth talents, technological progress, and the promotion of international friendship in the Greater Bay Area.
