A Bite of Shunde, city of gastronomy

Cantonese cuisine, one of the eight culinary traditions of Chinese food, is a shared culture in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Foshan's Shunde district, a prosperous river region in Guangdong, is a cradle of Cantonese cuisine. Shunde was appointed a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in December 2014.

Born and raised in Foshan, young artist Chen Zhijie spent four months drawing this scroll to illustrate the food culture in Shunde. With more than 1,100 characters, he drew chefs, apprentices, tourists and landmarks in the region.
