4 Southeast Asian events launched in Guangzhou's Nansha

Four southeast Asian events were launched at Nansha Bird Park on December 18, which presented authentic Indonesian boxing and instrument performance and Thai dancing performance. The public also got the chance to make a Krathong and experience the Thailand Loy Krathong Festival.

The 2nd Indonesia (Angklung) Arts & Culture Festival

Angklung is a traditional musical instrument with a long history in Indonesia. It is listed as a world intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. The 2nd Indonesia (Angklung) Arts & Culture Festival was organized by the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou and invited the Art Troupe of Guangxi Art University led by Chu Zhuo of the Guangxi Folk Music Museum and the Yingde Qiandao Caihong Art Troupe to perform Indonesian traditional music and dance.

The 2nd Thailand Loy Krathong Festival

Loy Krathong takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, which is one of the grandest festivals in Thailand. It’s also considered the most romantic festival of Thailand. People will float a lamp decorated with candles, flowers and incense on a river to thank the Goddess of Water and send wishes. The event is organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand Guangzhou Office.

The 5th Guangzhou Nansha Southeast Asia Bamboo Art Festival & 5th Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ASEAN International College Design & Construction Competition

Commencing in 2018, the Guangzhou Nansha Southeast Asia Bamboo Art Festival and the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) ASEAN International College Design & Construction Competition have introduced the bamboo-related culture, design and products from southeast Asia to Nansha, and provides a platform to further communication between GBA and ASEAN countries.

Vanhpheng Saisomphou, Consul General of Laos in Guangzhou, Vu Viet Anh, Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou, Ben Perkasa Drajat, Consul General of Indonesia in Guangzhou, and Jiraporn Sudanich, Consul General of Thailand in Guangzhou participated in the event.
