First direct flight between the GBA and Bahrain successfully launches

At approximately noon on May 30th, flight GF122 from Bahrain's capital, Manama, landed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, carrying over 40 passengers and around 1.6 tons of cargo. This marks the successful launch of the first direct flight route between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Bahrain, establishing a new bridge for trade and cultural exchanges between the two regions.

Bahrain, an island country located in the southwestern Persian Gulf, is rich in oil and natural gas resources and is one of the key economies in the Middle East. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Bahrain have seen stable and improving bilateral relations with increasingly frequent trade exchanges. In recent years, with the continuous advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, cooperation between Bahrain and China in trade, culture, and other fields has been enhanced.

The Bahrain-Guangzhou direct flight route officially commenced on May 30th and will operate three times a week. This new route not only provides more convenient travel options for the people of both countries but also significantly promotes exchanges and cooperation in trade, tourism, and culture. Bahrain's agricultural products, handicrafts, and other specialty goods will have easier access to the Chinese market, while electronic products and the daily necessities of China will enrich Bahrain's market offerings.

A representative from Gulf Air's Guangzhou office stated that this is the first direct flight route Gulf Air has established in the GBA since entering China. It is expected that once the route is stabilized, it will handle approximately 600 passengers and over 60 tons of import and export cargo per week.

A customs official at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport highlighted that customs procedures will be further streamlined to improve clearance efficiency. Close cooperation with port units will be maintained, and guidance will be provided to enterprises for flight declaration and registration. These measures aim to ensure the smooth operation of international flights and promote trade exchanges and cooperation between the GBA and the rest of the world.
