Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal trains complete 1,000 trips

Departing from the CRRC Corporation Limited Zhuzhou Logistics Park on June 20, the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal train made the 1000th trip since its launch in 2021.

The Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal train is China's first rail-sea intermodal logistics passage aimed at Africa. Departing from Zhuzhou, the train travels via the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway to ports such as Nansha, Yantian, and Shekou, where cargo is transshipped onto large ocean freighters bound for Asia-Pacific region, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

To ensure the efficiency of the train, the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal train features customized transportation services. The train departs from Zhuzhou and arrives at Nansha Port in Guangzhou early the next morning. In April this year, the Zhuzhou North-Nansha Port South direct train was launched, reducing the unilateral transportation time from 72 hours to 20 hours.

Additionally, the railway department and customs authorities of Hunan and Guangdong have strengthened collaboration. They have implemented "one-port pass" for the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal train and Guangdong ports, including Nansha Port and Yantian Port, which shortens the overall customs clearance cycle by nearly 30%.

"Our new material products are in great demand in Southeast Asia. Originally, we had to transport them by car to Changsha Wharf, then by barge to Shanghai Port on the Yangtze River, and finally load them onto ships to go out to sea. The entire transportation process took 25 to 35 days. After the opening of the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa International Logistics Passage, the transportation time is reduced to about 15 days, which not only cuts the delivery time of exported goods but also greatly reduces logistical costs," said Huang Que, vice general manager of Zhuzhou Xinglong New Materials Co., Ltd.
