The 2024 Yuexiu Temple Fair, a celebration of Cantonese folk culture, raised its curtain in Guangzhou on Saturday (Feb 24), also the Lantern Festival, with an opening gala and a grand folk parade kicking off the seven-day cultural extravaganza.

The parade, involving 12 squads with over 300 participants, marched across Guangzhou's landmarks Beijing Road and Xihu Road. The parade displayed various intangible culture heritage items in south China including Lingnan-style dragon and lion dances, horse dance from Zhaoqing City, Zhixi Lantern from Longyan City of neighboring Fujian Province, Shawan folk parade from Guangzhou's Panyu District, among many others.

This year's temple fair features over 120 activities, such as intangible cultural heritage fairs, talent shows, and culinary delights.
