Guangdong will see a boom in railway trips during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. (CR Guangzhou) said on Thursday.
Around 10.20 million railway trips will be made from June 7 to June 11, up 2.2 percent year-on-year. CR Guangzhou will add a total of 48 trains to meet people’s travel demand.
During peak hours, Guangzhou South Railway Station will open a maximum of 72 real-name verification channels and 50 security check channels. There are also special channels for those who are in a rush to catch their trains at the last minute.
The statistics show that the popular railway trips are from Shenzhen North Railway Station to Puning, Shantou, Chaoshan, and Shanwei, from Shenzhen North Railway Station, Guangzhou South Railway Station to Changsha South Railway Station, Shaoguan, Yingde West Railway Station and Qingyuan, and from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Yangshuo and Congjiang.
Starting from June 15, there will be more trains added to the West Kowloon Railway Station to facilitate the travel and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.
And another piece of good news is that the route from Zhanjiajie West Railway Station to West Kowloon Railway Station will be opened for the first time. For those who want to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site (Wulingyuan Scenic Area), the mid-to-late June will be the perfect time!
