Guangdong's presence in Indonesia underscores the deep and meaningful relationship between China and Indonesia: Vinsensius Jemadu

"Your presence here underscores the deep and meaningful relationship between our two nations," said Vinsensius Jemadu, Deputy Minister of Tourism Products and Event Organization, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia at the "Charming China (Guangdong) — Asia Culture Tour" held in Jakarta, Indonesia on the afternoon of June 24, 2024.

The event, held to promote the dynamic potential of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, was marked by a series of captivating performances, informative presentations, and immersive exhibitions such as the "Charming Guangdong" Photography Exhibition.

Over 200 people from both China's Guangdong and Indonesia, including government officials, travel agents and enthusiasts, media professionals, university representatives, students from Confucius institutions, and Chinese culture lovers, attended the event to explore the rich culture and tourism of Guangdong.

Mr. Jemadu said in his speech that the relationship between China and Indonesia holds profound significance. China serves as a pivotal market for Indonesia, evidenced by the seamless connectivity provided by flights from Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Jakarta and other Indonesian destinations. "This connectivity is a testament to our strong bilateral ties, facilitating easy access for travellers to explore Indonesia's diverse tourism offerings."

Last year, over 707,000 Chinese visitors travelled to Indonesia, and the country expects to welcome 1 to 1.5 million Chinese visitors by 2024, according to Mr. Jemadu. "These impressive figures underscore our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for our tourists."

The Deputy Minister for Tourism Product and Events pointed out that Guangdong stands as a cornerstone of China's economic strength, boasting the highest GDP among all provinces, and China has consistently been Indonesia's largest trading partner and remains its second-largest investor. "Chinese investments have catalyzed significant job creation, particularly in the dynamic tourism sector, and have driven substantial technological advancements," said Mr. Jemadu, "These contributions have been pivotal in strengthening our economy and fostering mutual growth."

Mr. Jemadu expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to collaborate with Guangdong, especially in the tourism sector, which holds immense potential for both regions. "By leveraging our rich cultural heritage and diverse attractions, we aim to create unique experiences that will attract tourists from around the globe. We look forward to forging strong partnerships and jointly promoting tourism."
