Nanfang Media Group inks cooperation agreement with 8 Thai and Malaysian media outlets

Recently, Nanfang Media Group successively signed cooperation agreements with eight media outlets in Thailand and Malaysia, including Asia News Time, Chinese Headline New Media Thailand, TAIGUO.COM, Kwong Wah Yit Poh, Oriental Daily News, United Daily News, The Sun and Malay Mail.

According to the strategic cooperation framework agreements, GDToday of Nanfang Media Group, as the main platform for Guangdong's international communication, will conduct comprehensive cooperation with the eight media outlets, including joint interviews and content production in both Chinese and English, platform cooperation, and jointly organizing various online and offline international activities.

"We should also forge a deeper cooperation on content creating and exchange activities around opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN, cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN countries and the stories of overseas Chinese in Malaysia and Thailand." said Huang Can, Vice President and Deputy Editor in Chief of Nanfang Media Group.

Huang also hoped to better introduce the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Guangdong to the world, jointly tell the stories of the GBA and Guangdong, as well as stories regarding Guangdong-Thailand cooperation and Guangdong-Malaysia cooperation through the agreements. 

Zhang Zhu, Deputy General Manager of Asia News Time, noted that the main media in Thailand and Guangdong Province should enhance cooperation on the report about the Belt and Road Initiative, ASEAN cooperation, the Eastern Economic Corridor, and other global issues. He believes that, by such cooperation, the GBA would enjoy higher exposure in Thailand and draw more Thai entrepreneurs to invest and enjoy the opportunities in the GBA.

Adam Ong, Executive Director of The Sun, stated that the collaboration with GDToday in English reports would contribute to better telling the stories between Malaysia and China as well as Malaysia and Guangdong with growing international voices by enriched content, more diverse angles, and more channels.

"Based on previous cooperation, we have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of media cooperation between Malaysia and China, and we are confident in the upgrading of cooperation," Li Xingqian, general manager of Kwong Wah Yit Poh. Li hopes that the cooperation is not only about the news but also in other fields such as activities, training, platform construction, and so on.
