On June 2, a dragon boat race kicked off on the Lijiang River in Panyu District of Guangzhou, in anticipation of the Duanwu Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 10 this year.
A total of 32 teams from different neighborhoods, streets, communities, and institutions in the district participated in a fierce competition. Each dragon boat was decorated with different themes, creating stunning scenery on the river.
Panyu lies at the heart of the Pearl River Delta, with a vast network of rivers and waterways. This proves to be very conducive to the development and continuity of the dragon boat racing culture.
