THE APSTAR-6D telecommunications satellite, also known as the “Shenzhen Satellite,” played a pivotal role in ensuring the safe return of the Shenzhou-16 crew to Earth, Bao’an Daily reported yesterday.

The satellite is owned by Shenzhen-based APT Mobile SatCom Ltd. (APSAT).

According to the report, APSAT formed a professional team to provide satellite telecom services for the Shenzhou-16 manned spacecraft’s journey back to Earth.

The team consisted of 16 technical personnel, including satellite backend specialists, baseband engineers, network operators, and maintenance technicians.

Working collaboratively, they developed a comprehensive support plan and fine-tuned the satellite communication system’s parameters. Furthermore, APSAT dispatched two engineers to work on-site, ensuring seamless communication with the astronauts.

APSAT also arranged staffers at the Shenzhen operation center to monitor the entire landing process and offer any necessary support.

The APSTAR-6D telecommunications satellite has consistently delivered high-quality and reliable satellite telecom services for various national missions, including those of the Shenzhou series, the Daily report said. (Wang Jingli)
