Visit 350-year-old tree at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Mall in Guangzhou

Recently, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Mall in Guangzhou, which has a 350-year-old tree, was selected as one of the first batches of Guangzhou Ancient Tree Parks.

This ancient kapok tree in the park is over 350 years old. It is about 27 meters tall, has a chest circumference of about 6 meters, and an average crown width of about 33 meters.

It was rated as the most beautiful kapok tree in China by the Chinese Forestry Society in 2018, and is known as the "Kapok King". In 2022, this kapok quilt, as one of the representatives of ancient trees, was exhibited together with the Huangshan Guest-Greeting Pine in the China Ancient and Valuable Tree Protection Photo Exhibition.

At present, there are 11 ancient and famous trees in the Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (trees that are more than 100 years old are ancient trees, and trees with rare or commemorative species are famous trees), and 37 ancient trees are follow-up resources (the tree is 80 to 100 years old), including kapok, white orchid, banyan tree, yellow kudzu, Nanling Dalbergia, etc.

In addition, there are two white orchids in the park that were rated as famous trees in 1985. Now, these two white orchid trees are more than 120 years old and have the largest tree crowns in Guangzhou.

As the largest Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in the world, the Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a hall-style building built with funds raised by Guangzhou people and overseas Chinese to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen. It is an important landmark on the central axis of Guangzhou's modern city and a national key cultural relics protection unit.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was named the most popular tourist destination in Guangzhou in 2022 in April this year. In May, it was selected for the first batch of historical gardens in Guangzhou. In October, it was selected for the first batch of Guangzhou Ancient Tree Parks.
