With the opening of the 135th Canton Fair in Guangzhou on April 15, Jiangmen has teamed up with Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to launch Jiangmen Promotion Week. As the first featured city in Baiyun Airport's "One City, One District, One Product" initiative, Jiangmen is showcasing its charm with the theme of "Happiness Happens Here" through a series of events this week at Terminal 2.
The festivities kicked off at 3:15 PM with a traditional Cantonese opera performance, drawing crowds with its enchanting melodies. This was followed by a lively instrumental ensemble of "Blooming Flowers and Full Moon" and a vibrant lion dance, lighting up the atmosphere. The ballet performances and dancers with fans labeled "Jiangmen" added to the excitement, dancing to the tune of "Come to Jiangmen," reaching the peak of the event's energy.
The audience was captivated, taking photos and videos, cheering and applauding. The event featured a mix of instrumental music, Cantonese opera, lion dances, and modern ballet, giving travelers a taste of Jiangmen's blend of Eastern and Western cultures and its unique urban charm.
Inside Terminal 2, the "Jiangmen Youpin" display area showcased nearly 300 products from over 60 local enterprises, including Xinhui dried tangerine peels, Magang goose, and Dasha tea. Travelers could purchase these products via online platforms like WeChat and Douyin.
On-site coffee tastings further enhanced the experience. Jiangmen's robust coffee industry, enriched by its strong overseas connections, has been further celebrated through local coffee festivals and innovative dining trends, enriching the "3:15 PM Tea Time" experience.
The event not only entertained but also opened a window for visitors to explore Jiangmen's culture more deeply. Li Yongxin, a Thai citizen of Jiangmen descent from Heshan, unexpectedly encountered the event. He said: "I am so proud to introduce my hometown to the world in this way."
The Jiangmen Promotion Week at Baiyun Airport leverages the airport's role as a central hub for the trade fair and highlights Jiangmen's unique cultural and natural resources. The diverse performances showcase Jiangmen's inclusive culture, and the product exhibition highlights the city's agricultural and creative industries.
Luo Jingcong, director of the Jiangmen City Tourism Industry Association, shared that over 20 local attractions and hotels are participating, offering thousands of discount vouchers to invite visitors to explore Jiangmen.
Moving forward, Jiangmen will continue to collaborate with Baiyun Airport on more promotional projects, showcasing its cultural allure and inviting visitors worldwide to discover the slogan "Happiness Happens Here."
