10 athletes from Dongguan to compete in the Paris Paralympics

A new record of participants from Dongguan in the Paralympics

The 33rd Summer Olympic Games concluded on August 11th local time at the Stade de France in Paris. The Chinese sports delegation won 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals, totaling 91 medals. The number of gold medals marks the best performance by China in an overseas Olympics. From August 28th to September 8th, the 17th Summer Paralympic Games will also take place in Paris. Ten athletes from Dongguan will compete, setting a new record for the city's participation in the Paralympics.

The Dongguan athletes participating in the competition are Zhou Guohua (with guide runner Jia Dengpu), Chen Minyi, Huang Wenjuan, Lin Yueshan, Yang Yifei, Wang Xiaomei, Ye Jixiong, Liu Qiangli, and Huang Xianquan. They will compete in athletics, archery, cycling, weightlifting, and swimming events.

Zhou Guohua

Zhou Guohua, born in October 1990, began participating in Paralympic sports in 2011. This year marks her third Paralympic Games, where she will compete in the women's T11 100 meters, long jump, and mixed relay.

Chen Minyi

Chen Minyi, born in October 1990, is from Shilong, Dongguan. This is her second time competing in the Paralympics, where she will participate in the women's W1 compound bow individual archery event.

Lin Yueshan

Lin Yueshan started para archery training in 2010 and will compete in the women's open compound bow individual archery event this year.

Yang Yifei

Yang Yifei, born in October 1991, was selected for the Dongguan Para Athletics Team in 2014 and has represented Dongguan in competitions. This year, he will compete in the men's T36 100 meters and long jump events.

Wang Xiaomei

Wang Xiaomei, born in August 2000, began sports training in Dongguan in 2014. This year, she will compete in the track women's 3000-meter individual pursuit, 500-meter time trial, and road race events.

Ye Jixiong

Ye Jixiong, born in May 1993, began weightlifting training in 2009. This year, he will compete in the men's 97kg weightlifting event.

Liu Qiangli

Liu Qiangli began cycling training in 2008. This is his first time participating in the Paralympics, where he will compete in the men's H5 individual time trial and road race events.

Huang Xianquan

Huang Xianquan began cycling training in 2008. This is his first time competing in the Paralympics, where he will participate in the men's H5 individual time trial and road race events.
