Guangzhou unleashes a barrage of celebrations for National Day holiday

As the countdown to the National Day Holiday kicks into high gear, Guangzhou is gearing up to welcome millions of visitors with an unprecedented array of over 2,000 cultural and tourism events, ensuring that the seven-day holiday is filled with endless joy and excitement.

Yuexiu District:

Yuexiu District is setting the tone with its "020 Hertz Sings Out Yuexiu for National Day" campaign, featuring mini-concerts in the Nonglinxia Road business district, where patriotic melodies will resonate, celebrating the nation's birthday. The Xiaoyunque Children's Choir, double champions of the World Choir Championships, will present "Xiaoyunque Night·Melody" at the Xinghai Concert Hall on October 7th, offering a sensational musical feast. Meanwhile, the Nanyue King Museum showcases captivating exhibitions such as "Exhibition Commemorating the 140th Anniversary of Chen Shuren's Birth" and "The Qin Sealing Clay Exhibition."

Guangzhou Zoo and Guangzhou Ocean World will also join the festivities with special events. The zoo's "Night Safari" will return on October 1st and 3rd, inviting visitors to witness the secretive nightlife of herbivores. Guangzhou Ocean World, on the other hand, prepares a National Day Carnival filled with magic tricks, bubble shows, puzzles, and art painting sessions, along with ticket giveaways as an added attraction.

Building upon the popularity of "Apollonia", Beijing Road's Tee Mall will continue its successful streak with new musicals like "Santalucia" and "Singh's Art Supplies Store". 

Haizhu District:

On October 1st, a flash mob performance will light up the top of Canton Tower, inviting tourists to participate in the celebrations. The 17th China International Comic Festival, from October 2nd to 5th at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Center (PWTC), promises an annual "Comic Golden Week" with events like the China Animation Golden Dragon Awards, the China Comic Artists Conference, and an animation and game show.

Yifang Letian Urban Farm in Haizhu District will present an intangible cultural heritage light show, where visitors can marvel at a fantastic sea of lights, traditional iron flower performances, fire juggling, and water-screen movies.

Liwan District:

Guangzhou Cultural Park will light up the night with its wonderful events, featuring 32 large and medium-sized lanterns and nearly 2,000 ambient lights, all free to the public. Cultural exhibitions, including wildlife photography by French-Chinese photographer Li Xiu, and calligraphy and painting displays celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, will add depth to the festivities.

Tianhe District:

The 2024 Guangzhou International Shopping Festival kicks off on September 29th, with the Tianhe main venue in collaboration with 30 shopping malls to present over 100 exciting activities.

Baiyun District:

Baiyun Mountain's Mingchun Valley welcomes visitors to the "Second Guangdong Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture and Art Festival," offering an immersive experience in millennia of tradition and culture.

Huadu District:

Guangzhou R&F Wonderland will host a Chinese-themed carnival, showcasing Shaolin martial arts, patriotic songs, and a special edition of the "Grand Lake Show." 

Panyu District:

Chimelong Paradise will celebrate the holiday with "Exploring World Wonders" and the "Guangdong-Style Electric Music Festival," where rare animals from around the world accompany visitors in festive activities. Shawan Ancient Town will launch its fourth quarter grand finale with the "Shawan Ancient Town Theatre – 2024 Shawan Fish Lantern Cultural Festival," blending intangible cultural heritage, artifacts, fish lanterns, music, and lion dances.

Nansha District:

On September 28th, the 2024 Greater Bay Area Bonsai Art and Culture Festival opens in Banmei Village, Lianhe Town, showcasing over 400 exquisite bonsai pieces from nearly a thousand enterprises across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Zengcheng District:

Tourism and Culture Week will introduce visitors to Zengcheng's unique charm through specialty food, creative markets, and light shows. The Guangzhou Song and Dance Theater will bring performances to Zengcheng Square.
