Amazing Guangdong | Beautiful rivers

On a land dimension of nearly 180,000 square kilometers in Guangdong, there are seven important and amazing rivers. What are they? Check it out with the video!

The Xijiang River, the largest water system in the Pearl River Basin, originates from Maxiong Mountain in Qujing, Yunnan, and flows into Guangdong from Fengkai County, Zhaoqing City. The basin of the Xijiang River is the economic, cultural and political center of Guangdong Province.

The Dongjiang River originates from Yajibo Mountain in Xunwu County, Jiangxi Province. It flows from northeast to southwest, flowing through Heyuan, Huizhou and Dongguan into Shiziyang. The length of Dongjiang in Guangdong Province is 435 kilometers. The Dongshen Water Supply Scheme guarantees water supply for tens of millions of residents in Dongshen, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

The Beijiang River originates from Damao Mountain in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, with a total length of 468 kilometers. There are three cities, Shaoguan, Qingyuan and Foshan, in the basin, with a total population of 12.58 million.

The Hanjiang River originates from Qixingdao in Zijin, the source of the river. It enters the Hanjiang Delta through Chaozhou and goes out to sea through Shantou. The main stream is 470 kilometers long and is the second largest river basin in Guangdong.

Jianjiang, the largest river in the coastal area of western Guangdong, originates in Xinyi City, Maoming City, and enters the sea in Wuchuan, Zhanjiang, with a total length of 231 kilometers. It is the mother river of more than 10 million people in Maoming and Zhanjiang.

Lianjiang River, the mother river in Chaoshan area, originates in Puning, Jieyang City. The main stream is 71.1 kilometers long, and the resident population of the basin exceeds 4.3 million.

The Pearl River Estuary (PRE), a section of waterway from Guangzhou to the estuary, has many cross-river channels across the east and west banks. It has a world-class port that supports the busy shipping economy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

After environmental governance, by 2021, the water quality rate of 149 surface water sections in Guangdong will reach 89.9%, and the proportion of areas with good water quality in coastal waters will reach 90.2%. By the end of 2021, Guangdong had built a high-standard ecological belt of 2,900 kilometers.
