On November 28, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) cultural industry investment and financing alliance was established during the "2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural Industry Investment Conference" in Guangzhou.
The alliance consists of 23 leading entities specializing in private equity, venture capital, securities, and state-owned cultural enterprises. It brings extensive investment experience, particularly in the domain of new digital business models.
The alliance will serve as an investment and financing platform within the GBA, providing comprehensive financial services such as consultation, fund setup, equity investment, and IPO guidance for cultural industries and enterprises. Additionally, it will introduce high-quality projects to the funds, facilitating effective alignment between the cultural industry and capital.
Jin Yuanpu, a professor and dean of the Cultural and Creative Industries Studies Center at Renmin University of China, highlighted the unique strengths of the 11 cities in the GBA. "For instance, Shenzhen is a national leader in AI and the metaverse field, while Guangzhou is actively upgrading and transforming traditional cultural industries," Jin noted. "The joint efforts of GBA cities serve as a powerful force propelling cultural industrial development."

Professor Xiang Yong, dean of the Institute for Cultural Industries at Peking University, pointed out that this alliance will improve the utilization of cultural resources in the GBA. He expressed his anticipation for Guangdong to integrate financial, technical, and content elements to further establish a complete IP value chain, enabling industry integration.
"Hopefully, this approach will showcase the rich aesthetics of the Chinese lifestyle to the world through modern industries," Xiang added.
