Designed by Huang Yongyu, a famous artist in China, the stamps are printed with offset engraving. The pattern on the first stamp is a blue rabbit holding a pen and a letter, showing the wishes of the Chinese New Year to the people. The second one depicts three rabbits running together, showing the vitality and warmth of life, and its background features the motif of "Jade Rabbit pounding medicine" which expresses the wish for peace, health, and happiness of the people in the face of the pandemic.

As a long-standing folk cultural symbol, the Chinese zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao ("生肖" in Chinese), is a significant part of traditional Chinese culture. Since 1980, China Post has issued special stamps of the Chinese zodiac every year, and its launch event has been held in Guangzhou for the ninth year since 2015.

At the ceremony, several residents born in the Year of the Rabbit were invited to witness the debut of the stamps together. Meanwhile, people could also interact with the adorable rabbits of Guangzhou Zoo up close and purchase zodiac stamps and related objects.
