This year's event highlights sports activities for youth, according to Sylvain FOURRIERE, Consul General of France in Guangzhou.
Two competitions will be held from 9 to 10 am on March 14 at Guangzhou's Tianhe Sports Center (天河体育中心) and Shenzhen's Dameisha (大梅沙). Guangzhou people can compete in skateboarding, while Shenzhen people can compete in stand-up paddle boarding. A breakdance party will be additionally held at IGC Guangzhou on April 9. Sports fans shouldn't miss them!
"These are arranged in concert with the four new Olympic sports, including skateboard and breakdance," Sylvain FOURRIERE added. The competitions take place on the 500-day countdown to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. "I hope the events will give Guangdong people a chance to learn about and get involved in these new sports."
An abundance of cultural performances will also offer a visual feast for Guangdong residents. Music lovers can enjoy a solo concert "Coco Chanel's Music List" during the festival. It was performed by Li Ying, a mezzo-soprano singer who used to travel to France. The children's play of the classic French story—"The Little Prince"—will be put on the stage of the Guangzhou Opera House. Parents can bring children over 5 years old to watch. Shenzhen's Nanshan International Cultural Exchange & Services Center (Shekou) will screen a series of French films and documentaries.
