Cantonese folk music "Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon" is dedicated to and frequently performed during the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, which fell on September 29 this year.
The musical piece has been performed in various forms over the past few days to celebrate the festival. For example, GDToday invited an international ensemble to present it with a twist, including Martin Fleischer, former Consul General of Germany in Guangzhou and Vakulishyna Victoria, an expert from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music. In this music video, musicians from different countries performed at Guangzhou's city landmarks, and finally met at the top of Canton Tower. Through music, these artists jointly convey the blessings of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
In addition, a music microfilm was released, featuring Cantonese culture promoter Wu Yan and Canadian-Chinese pianist Tony Yike Yang. Tony is the youngest-ever laureate in the history of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. In 2018, he was appointed Youth Cultural Ambassador to the city of Guangzhou.
The music was also played by a jazz group at the 2023 Zhuhai Mid-Autumn Festival Gala on the evening of September 28.
