The Documenta of Liang Sicheng, the Master of Architecture (“栋梁”——一代建筑宗师梁思成学术文献展), has been underway at China Qiaodu Museum of Overseas Chinese in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province.
The exhibition is jointly organized by the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University and Jiangmen Municipal People's Government, and is expected to run until June 30.

Known as the father of modern Chinese architecture, Liang Sicheng was born in Guangdong's Xinhui, which is today's Jiangmen City. It is of special commemorative significance to be able to comprehensively review Liang's academic life in his hometown.

The picture above shows the manuscript of the first volume of "On the History of European Wars" (欧洲战役史论第一编) presented by Liang Qichao (Liang Sicheng's father) to Liang Sicheng, which is also a key cultural relic in the exhibition. Most of the displayed historical materials, such as letters and old photos, were provided by Liang's relatives and were the first official public appearance.
The exhibition aims to comprehensively present Liang's remarkable achievements in many fields through precious family images, letters and rich academic documents, so as to show the character and spirit of this master of architecture.

In addition, since the exhibition is held in Liang's hometown, another theme of the exhibition is to show the important influence of Liang's family education on his academic life. Liang's family, an outstanding family that has cultivated many talented people in Chinese modern history and made great contributions to Chinese culture, is also introduced in the exhibition.
