Documentary film Life Goes On screened at Guangdong Movie Promotion

The documentary film Life Goes On was screened at the Guangdong Movie Promotion on the 22nd. The film tells the story of many schools, represented by Lingnan University and Sun Yat-sen University, during China's nationwide resistance war against Japanese aggression. In order to continue their education  work, these schools relocated to the northern mountainous area of Guangdong amid the flames of war.

"2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Sun Yat-sen University, and this film is a commemorative gift," said Xie Shi, vice president of Sun Yat-sen University. Xie Shi believes that this film captures the glorious history of Sun Yat-sen University, which continues to inspire people to move forward.

The film's script is based on the latest research results and precious historical materials, recreating the touching story of that time with professional actors. The film was shot on-site in Shaoguan, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and other places, showcasing the former school sites and the current situation of each school, and conducting on-site interviews with those who experienced it or their family members.

"We tried to select the most artistically captivating stories to present to our audience," said Cao Jin, Director of Guangdong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. Cao Jin is the main creative staff of this film and has been searching for historical materials for the film for the past six years. She hopes that audiences will learn about this significant history through the film and develop a keen interest in it.

The film also proves that education in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan has the same roots. The more than 40 schools involved in the film include today's Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, Lingnan University in Hong Kong, Soochow University in Taiwan, Pooi To Middle School in Macao, etc.
