A research center was officially established at the Nanyue King Museum on June 9, 2023, the 40th anniversary of the discovery of the mausoleum of the Nanyue King.

On the same night, an evening show was staged to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the discovery of the mausoleum of the Nanyue King. Over 200 lovers of Hanfu, a traditional style of clothing worn by the Han people, attended the event to experience barbecue, pitch-pot, chime song and dance at the museum.
The History Research Center of Nanyue Kingdom of Western Han Dynasty occupies a floorage of 3,315 square meters, consisting of a comprehensive laboratory for collection protection, a library and reading room, an educational experience space, and an academic lecture hall.

It is a semi-underground building and adopts the traditional Chinese courtyard layout. The building is set around the atrium, with a total of three stories. There are grass and trees on the roof, which is integrated with the greening of the mausoleum protection area.

The comprehensive laboratory for collection protection
The research center aims to explore the history of Qin and Han Dynasties, especially the history of Nanyue Kingdom in the Western Han Dynasty. It will also strengthen research in Lingnan culture and maritime silk road culture.
It will improve its technical level of cultural relics protection and restoration, and share the achievements of cultural facility construction with the public through educational activities, book readings and various other events.
