Join youth orchestra to strike a chord in the world stage

The Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra (GSYO), one of China's premier youth ensembles and an affiliate of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, is recruiting new members for its youth basic class of GSYO IV.

Primary school students who live in Guangzhou and are in Grade 1–3 this September with basicpiano skills and musical potential can apply for free, and the selected schoolchildren will receive free training in professional instrument playing techniques from scratch. The application deadline is June 30.

On behalf of Guangzhou City, the GSYO has been to Germany, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, France, and other countries for friendly visits and cultural exchange performances, which have been widely praised.

In 2023, it became the first Chinese orchestra invited to perform at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, which was recorded live and broadcast worldwide by Medici.tv, the world's largest classical music platform. China Media Group Mobile and Tencent Art rebroadcast the performance, which was viewed by more than 210,000 people on domestic platforms.

Founded in July 2011, the GSYO is the first youth orchestra in China to be established and managed by a professional orchestra. Since September 2015, the GSYO has established its own music season, becoming the first non-professional orchestra in China to have an independent music season. The orchestra has also performed with famous musicians such as Yu Long, Tan Dun, and Yo-Yo Ma.
