Hengqin’s first training base for integrated circuit talent unveiled

On May 23, the first integrated circuit talent training base in the Guangdong-Macao in-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin was unveiled at the Zhuhai-UM Science and Technology Research Institute.

With the educational resources of the State Key Laboratory of the University of Macao, the training base has set up 18 training courses in the fields of analogue integrated circuits, digital integrated circuits, power management, and biotechnology. It can also customize exclusive training courses for enterprises to smoothen and shorten the initiation period of the newcomer, as well as reduce the cost of talent training.

According to Mak Pui In, director of the State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI at the University of Macao, some short-term courses will be held in the future to attract talent from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and even foreign countries to teach in Hengqin, expanding Hengqin's talent pool. The first training session is scheduled for June 10.

After the ceremony, the training base held a matchmaking meeting for talent in the field of integrated circuits. More than 20 master and doctoral students majoring in microelectronics from the University of Macao, as well as representatives of circuit companies in Hengqin, such as Wisewave, AkroStar, SILERGY CORP, and Amicro, attended the meeting.

In recent years, Hengqin has continued to develop the integrated circuit industry by issuing relevant policies to accelerate the development of the ecology of the integrated circuit industry, and it has cultivated a number of Integrated circuit innovation enterprises with talents. So far, an industrial cluster with an integrated circuit design has been formed, featuring high-speed interface IP, driver IC, GPU and other types.
