Recently, the Department of Justice of Guangdong held a work conference on the administration of justice in 2023. According to the conference, there are now 205 Hong Kong and Macao lawyers who have been certified to practice in the 9 Chinese mainland cities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). It shows a more cooperative mechanism of legal services between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

The conference reviewed Guangdong's administration of justice in 2022, saying the province has improved its mechanism.
For instance, in terms of serving national strategies by law, last year the province held the fourth GBA Legal Departments Joint Conference, issued GBA Cross-Boundary Disputes Mediation Model Rules, promoted Zhuhai to establish the first cross-regional mediation association in China, selected and appointed the first batch of people's supervisors from Hong Kong and Macao, and held the second GBA Legal Qualification Examination.
In 2023, the Department of Justice of Guangdong will advance law-based administration. It will further provide legal protection for ongoing development of the GBA, Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and cooperation platforms including Hengqin, Qianhai, Nansha.
It will promote the pilot of Hong Kong and Macao lawyers to practice in mainland cities of GBA, to identify more GBA mediators, to promote Guangdong's manufacturing development with the high-quality legal services.
Besides, the department will strengthen legislation in major areas including scientific innovation, business environment, public health, risk prevention and more. It will enhance legislative exploration on emerging sectors such as AI, big data, Internet security.
