Macao journalists enchanted by Shaoguan's computing power technology

"Our first visit...was an eye-opening experience for us to have the first approach to high-quality development here. We were really impressed by the infrastructure development, and we also felt inspired by the potential for cooperation between Macao and Shaoguan in the future," said José Carlos Matias, director of Macau Business, after taking a one-day visit to Shaoguan, a northern city in Guangdong province on July 3rd.

As the Macao Portuguese and English Press Delegation leader, Matias and his companions embarked on their second-day journey in Shaoguan, experiencing the vitality of the city's computing and cultural industry development.

The delegation visited In Shaohua Data Valley and the Eagle Soul (Shaoguan) Information Industry company, gaining a more profound and closer look at the city's computing power industry. Facilities have been constructed to support the digitalization of industries such as healthcare, finance, science, education and business incubation in the GBA.

Later, the delegation took in the breathtaking city view from Shaoyang Tower, which is located atop Lianhua Mountain in the city area. Moreover, they also looked out over Danxia Mountain Geopark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Oswald Vas, a journalist from O Clarim, the oldest continuous Portuguese Newspaper in Macao, was amazed by Shaoguan's high technology, "it's really interesting for me to see the advancement of China and how far ahead they are in technology".

Shaoguan is a city with a long history and abundant cultural relics. The city is famous for its tourism in Guangdong. Also, it enjoys a convenient location and transportation. It takes one hour to the Pearl River Delta and two hours to Hong Kong and Macao.

As a part of the national east-data-west computing project, Shaoguan began building data centers in 2022. By 2025, the city expects to have invested 200 billion RMB, creating three industrial areas for data centers and related businesses.
