Museums in Guangzhou reopen with various exhibitions underway

Since April 25, Yuexiu, Haizhu and Liwan districts have gradually resumed indoor recreational facilities and opened other closed and semi-closed venues that had been suspended due to the epidemic prevention and control.

Many cultural institutions in Guangzhou reopened on April 25. Here is the reopening schedule for the cultural institutions in Guangzhou.

Nanyue King Museum 南越王博物院

Reopening date: April 25

Opening hour: 9:00-17:00, closed on Mondays

The Discovery of Liangzhu (发现良渚)

The Liangzhu culture (3400-2250 BC) was the last Neolithic culture in China's Yangtze River Delta. The Liangzhu site is one of the largest and most valuable pieces of evidence to prove that Chinese civilization has existed 5,000 years.

296 pieces (sets) of exquisite cultural relics, including 11 pieces (sets) of first-class cultural relics, are on display, showing the jade wares, the structure of Liangzhu City, the water conservancy system and so on.

Guangzhou Museum 广州博物馆

Guangzhou Museum has reopened its exhibition area, including Zhenhai Tower, Zhongyuan Tower, and Memory Hall of the Uprising on March 29th in lunar calendar.

This exhibition displays the cultural, customs and urban development of Guangzhou in the past five to six thousand years through nearly 1,000 cultural relics, photos and materials discovered of the city.

Wild animals are one of the most important factors in traditional Chinese painting. Audiences can enjoy the charm of wild animals (tigers, apes, monkey, deer, horse and more) through a total of 51 paintings in this exhibition.

27 Studies of the Eye of Horus (关于荷鲁斯之眼的27件习作)

According to the legend of ancient Egypt, the "Eye of Horus" refers to the eye of Wedjat, the god of the sun. Legend said that "Eye of Horus" can see everything of the world.

Inspired by the legend, Li Wenguang, a Chinese artist has created 27 works of "Eye of Horus" based on combinations of triangles and circles.

Opening hour: 11:00-18:00

In addition, Guangdong Folk Arts Museum, the Memorial Museum of Generalissimo Sun Yat-sen's Mansion, the Museum of Site of the 3rd National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Lingnan Arts and Crafts Museum, Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum and other museums have reopened this week.
