The musical Bond of Love will be premiered at the Guangdong Friendship Theatre on April 15, the opening day of the 133rd Canton Fair. Featuring a Sino-French love story, the play will take the audience through the development of the Canton Fair over the past 66 years.
In this musical, Qiao Cheng, a young man from Guangzhou, fell in love with Isabella, a French girl who first came to China at the first Canton Fair in 1957. However, they broke up by mistake. At the Canton Fair in 2023, they meet each other again with the help of their children. According to Yan Bing, director and scriptwriter of the musical, the character of Isabella incorporates many similar stories from the history of the Canton Fair.

In addition, various elements of Lingnan culture are integrated into the show, such as gambiered Canton gauze and Cantonese Opera.
"Over the past 66 years, every session of the Canton Fair presents the most fashionable China to the world," said Yan, "Through this musical, we want to send out our Canton Fair invitation to the world: Join us at the Canton Fair and be young forever."
