On April 24, GSO, together with the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 2, held a flash mob event themed "Greater Bay Area Reflection" to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the use of Terminal 2. The Vivo Cello ensemble from GSO performed selected excerpts from the William Tell Overture, classic pieces like The Rite of Spring, and other representative pieces for both Chinese and foreign travellers in the airport waiting area.

"On the occasion of the 133rd Canton Fair, we brought classic works of music from China and abroad to Terminal 2. I believe that Chinese and foreign merchants can feel the vitality of Guangdong's reform and opening up, as well as the cultural atmosphere of Guangzhou's convergence of Chinese and Western cultures," said Chen Qing, head of the GSO.

The event also marked the second anniversary of the "GSO@BAIYUN T2" project. Initiated in April 2021, the project aims to build a terminal brimming with music so as to provide a better environment for travellers.

GSO constantly updates the audio and video content of "GSO@T2 Music Station" and "GSO@T2 Cloud Music Performance Hall" projects. Tourists can scan the QR code on the "GSO@T2 Music Time" posters near the boarding gates to listen to live recordings of GSO performances. In February this year, GSO also collaborated with the Terminal to launch an online special music section on QQ Music.

After the flash mob event, GSO departed to Hangzhou to participate in the 2023 Hangzhou International Music Festival, where they will perform Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet on April 26.
