The 31st Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award, the country's top honour for opera and drama, will be held in Guangzhou from May 8 to 23, 2023, and set up two sub-venues in the Hong Kong and Macao SARs. Seventeen plays covering 11 genres of theatre will be presented to the public.

This is the fourth time that Guangzhou has held the Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award, and 15 artists will be awarded. It will be an audio-visual feast for the audience, with productions adapted from classic plays of opera, stage plays, and traditional Chinese operas like Peking Opera, Cantonese Opera, Kunqu Opera, and so on.

Furthermore, these performances will be staged at Guangdong Arts Theatre, Guangzhou Friendship Theatre, Guangzhou Beilei Theatre, Hung Sin-nui Opera House, Guangdong Cantonese Opera Arts Center in Guangzhou, Ko Shan Theatre in Hong Kong, as well as Macao's Venetian Theatre. Audiences can enjoy subsidies with ticket prices of 80, 120, and 180 RMB.
