"Golden Week" holiday fun across Guangdong

To celebrate China's National Day holiday (October 1 to 7), cities across Guangdong are rolling out a variety of exciting cultural and entertainment activities to welcome visitors. Here's a glimpse of what to expect across the province during the Golden Week.

Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort (广州长隆旅游度假区)

Get ready to meet a special guest at Chimelong Safari Park this holiday! The baby panda cub, daughter of "Meng Meng," one of the famous Chimelong panda triplets, will make her public debut. Visitors can hop on the park's scenic train and meet over 20,000 rare animals, including giraffes that you can even feed.

Additionally, starting from October 4, Chimelong Paradise will host its annual Halloween-themed event. With 5 themed areas, 12 haunted houses, and nearly 1,000 costumed characters, it will offer you an unforgettable adventure.

Splendid China Folk Village, Shenzhen (锦绣中华民俗村)

During the National Day holiday, visitors can immerse themselves in China's traditional drumbeats at the Splendid China Folk Village. The resort offers six daily performances of Shanxi Province's Jiangzhou drum music, which was inscribed onto the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre's List of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2002. Meanwhile, you can also enjoy folk drum shows from China's 56 ethnic groups, such as the Uygur hand drum, the wooden drum of the Wa ethnic group, and the Dai elephant-foot drum dance.

Shenzhen drone show

From October 1 to 7, Shenzhen's night sky will come alive with spectacular drone light shows across five different locations. The drone show will be divided into five segments, each lasting 10 to 15 minutes. Featuring a fleet of thousands of drones, the nightly performances will highlight themes such as "international," "culture," "technology," "innovation," and "energy," promoting the city's spirit.

Shantou Small Park (汕头小公园)

From October 1 to 7, a tea-themed event will be held at the central area of Shantou Small Park. This open-air event will showcase Chaozhou's iconic Gongfu tea culture, offering a variety of tea experiences, from traditional tea ceremonies to modern tea drinks. Visitors can also explore creative markets with tea-related crafts, and experience local tea traditions firsthand.

2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Shunde) Food Culture Week

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Shunde District being designated as a Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO. The 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Shunde) Food Culture Week will be held from September 29 to October 6 at Chencun Flower World. Featuring over 100 food stalls offering 1,000 different delicacies, this event brings together local and international cuisines to give visitors an unforgettable culinary experience.

To top it off, there will be fireworks displays at night, making this food festival a must-visit during the holiday!

Chikan Resort Town, Jiangmen (江门赤坎华侨古镇): A Celebration of Heritage

From October 1 to 7, Chikan will be a hub of cultural festivities. Music flash mobs and parades will fill the streets during the day, set against the backdrop of century-old arcade buildings, while spectacular nighttime shows of Huohu (fire pot), molten iron flowers, fire dragon, and fireworks will ignite the festive air. The area's century-old arcade buildings and traditional Cantonese food stalls will bring you back in time.
