7 Chinese cities earn spot on global richest cities ranking

Seven Chinese cities have made into world's wealthiest cities ranking for 2024, according to a report from investment immigration consultancy Henley & Partners and wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth.

They are Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou in Guangdong province, Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, Hong Kong, and Taipei.

Beijing, with 125,600 millionaires, has made it into the top ten for the first time, ranking 10th on the list. The city's millionaire population has surged 90 percent over the past decade.

Shanghai grabbed the 11th place, with an 84 percent growth in millionaires to 123,400 people.

Shenzhen, which came in 27th on the list, is the world's fastest-growing city for the wealthy, with its millionaire population exploding by 140 percent in the last ten years.

Hangzhou has also experienced a massive 125 percent increase in its high-net-worth-individual population and Guangzhou's millionaires have grown by 110 percent between 2013 and 2023.

Globally, New York is the richest city in the world, with 359,500 millionaires and 60 billionaires.
