GDToday on spot | China-Central Asia Summit to open in Xi'an

From May 18 to 19, the China-Central Asia Summit will be held in Xi'an, the capital city of China's Shaanxi Province, with Chinese President Xi Jinping chairing the summit. 

The event marks the "first major diplomatic event that China will host this year" and will be the first ever in-person summit between the leaders of China and five Central Asian countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations 31 years ago.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan will arrive in Xi'an on May 17 and 18.

As of 07:30 PM on May 17, presidents of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have arrived in the city.
