Let global trade return to a win-win situation: chief negotiator for China's WTO accession

On March 26, panel discussions themed on "Confronting Fragmentation in Global Trade," "Investing the Future of Asia," and others were held during the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2024 in Boao.

"When we engage in global trade, we know from the beginning that it will bring a win-win situation. Now, calling for globalization is to return to this common sense and the most basic laws," said Long Yongtu, chief negotiator for China's WTO accession and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.

He drew an analogy, saying, "On a remote island, half of the residents fish and the other half grow fruits. If a trade is carried out, all residents will benefit from it. Otherwise, they will all lose. This is a basic common sense."
