Traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture wins over French friends

"Five years ago, I received the treatment of Professor Chen Xiuhua, who helped me to overcome my dependence on crutches. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing global pandemic, I failed to continue my treatment. Luckily, I was able to regain my mobility then thanks to the amazing Chinese medicine therapy. I believe in acupuncture and fully trust the solutions provided by traditional Chinese doctors," said Mr. Jean Charles Sanson from France with joy.

Traveling thousands of miles to Guangzhou, he received treatment from Professor Chen Xiuhua, a provincial representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage "Lingnan Chen's Acupuncture Technique." Despite suffering from Parkinson's disease for over a decade, he got rid of his crutches in China and returned to France in good health. His entire family has also become avid followers of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

In October 2008, Mr. Sanson from France began experiencing symptoms such as limb weakness, and inability to write and speak, and finally diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at a local hospital in France. Although he had been taking medication for ongoing treatment, his condition worsened, with episodes where he couldn't even take a step or speak clearly.

Mr. Sanson's son-in-law, Chen Zhaojun, is from Hong Kong, China, and has some knowledge of TCM. On June 25th, 2018, Mr. Sanson arrived in Guangzhou for the first time. Through a friend of Chen, he was introduced to Professor Chen Xiuhua, the head of the Traditional Therapy Department at the Dade Road General Hospital of Guangdong Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.

After receiving 16 sessions of traditional Chinese medicine treatments over three weeks, Mr. Sanson's condition improved significantly. He was able to walk more steadily with increased agility in his movement.

Unexpectedly, the global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic hindered Mr. Sanson from returning to Guangzhou for further TCM rehabilitation treatment for over three years. By November 2023, Mr. Sanson's condition had worsened once again. Despite his considerable difficulties in movement, he decided to make another special trip from France to China, hoping to seek treatment from Professor Chen Xiuhua.

After receiving five treatments in Guangzhou, Mr. Sanson has experienced significant improvement in his ability to walk. He no longer needs to use his crutches and his overall mobility has greatly improved. Initially, he was worried about his treatment, but now he is happy and even greets the doctors with a smile on his face.

Not only Mr. Sanson, but his daughter and son-in-law also received comprehensive treatment plans from Professor Chen Xiuhua for their respective conditions of polycystic ovary syndrome and spinal discherniation, which included a combined therapy of acupuncture, cupping, pricking blood, Gua Sha, thread-embedding, and point injection, as well as internal administration of Chinese herbal medicine. And their active cooperation with the treatment improved their conditions.

The Sanson family has become big fans of TCM since the Chinese practitioners are very good at establishing a bond with their patients and providing comfort and hope to every helpless or lonely person.

It is understood that acupuncture is currently being practiced in 196 countries and regions worldwide. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, 113 member countries of the WHO recognize the use of acupuncture and other traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and 29 member countries have established relevant laws and regulations for the standardized use of traditional Chinese medicine.
