27 people from Guangdong selected for the Chinese delegation to WorldSkills Competition

The centralized assessment of the 47th WorldSkills Competition has come to an end, and the list of Chinese delegation has been released. A total of 27 candidates from Guangdong won first place in 23 projects. The participating candidates accounted for nearly 40% of the total number of contestants from China. These contestants will represent the country in the WorldSkills Competition to be held in Lyon, France in September.

Currently, the WorldSkills Competition, organized by the World Skills Organization, is the highest-level global vocational skills event and is hailed as the "WorldSkills Olympics", leading and representing the world's advanced level of vocational skills development.

On October 7th, 2010, China officially joined the WorldSkills Organization. Looking back on China's 14-year participation history, the China Skills Dream Team has stunned the world skills competition, which highly coincides with the global reputation of "Made in China". Among them, Guangdong players have won "the first gold medal of China", "double consecutive championships" and "four consecutive championships", and have trained a total of 77 medalists (26 gold medals, 15 silver, 12 bronze, 24 honorable mentions).

In this centralized assessment, Guangdong ranked first in 23 projects. It is obvious that most of these projects belong to advanced manufacturing, emerging industries, and modern service industries. They include advanced manufacturing projects such as CNC machining, industrial design, and additive manufacturing, emerging industry projects such as mobile robots and cloud computing, as well as modern service industry projects such as commodity display technology and fashion technology, which are highly in line with the needs of Guangdong's industrial transformation and upgrading.

Nowadays, "Made in Guangdong" is steadily upgrading to "intelligent manufacturing", accelerating its expansion into "new quality productive forces". Drones soar in the blue sky, overseeing the entire process from sowing to harvesting, almost achieving "unmanned field operation." In the "Lighthouse" factories of GAC Aion, mechanical arms operate in an orderly manner, with one white car body being welded every 53 seconds. Over 200 domestic automotive-grade products have been verified with the help of GRG Metrology & Test Group Co., Ltd., among which high-power LEDs are the first of their kind in China.

It is worth noting that among the top 500 manufacturing companies in Guangdong, there are 265 companies in the electronic information industry and equipment manufacturing industry alone.

From starting out in the manufacturing industry to becoming the leader in it, in recent years, Guangdong has closely adhered to the strategic goal of building a high-level talent hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. By cultivating and utilizing human resources, the province accelerated the nurturing of high-quality skilled talents, injecting talent vitality into high-quality development.

Today, the total number of skilled talents in Guangdong has reached 19.34 million, of which 6.57 million are highly skilled talents, accounting for 34%. They are providing continuous support for high-quality economic development in Guangdong and even the whole country.
