Early autumn brings a lively scene to the wetlands of Anpu Town, Lianjiang, Zhanjiang, Guangdong. Birds forage in shallow waters, while wild ducks glide through the ripples as a light breeze stirs the greenery around them.

A fun cooking contest was held in Foshan's Zhangcha Subdistrict on September 19. Participants from various countries blended flavours from their homelands to cook Shakou bamboo shoots in creative ways. Shakou bamboo shoots are a local specialty of Zhangcha. They taste sweet, crisp and tender, and are hailed as the "National Banquet Bamboo Shoots in China." When US President Nixon visited China in 1972, Shakou bamboo shoots were served as one of the dishes at the state banquet.

For Heng Yeanchea, a student at Siem Reap Public Zhongshan School, building a red-headed boat model took only ten minutes. Yet the boat itself carries a much longer story. It was once a major vessel for water transport, sailing from China's Chaoshan region to Cambodia. Although it is no longer used today, it remains a symbol of the historical ties between Guangdong and Cambodia.
