Chess sports, including Chess, Go and Chinese Chess, become competitions in the 16th Asian Games held in Guangzhou in 2010, with 8 gold medals.
Several months ago, Chinese Chess was approved to become a new sport in the games and recently, Go and Chess finally won the approval, too.
Chinese Chess will have two gold medals, individual men and individual women. Go will have three, individual men, individual women and mixed double. Chess will have individual men, individual women and team.
Rong Jianxing, director of Guangzhou Chess Sports Institute, said a new Guangzhou Chess Institute is under construction now and will become the venue for the three Chess sports in 2010 Games.
