The Guizhou-Guangzhou speed railway project is to commence soon, released by Lin Shusen, Governor of Guizhou province in southwest China, during a forum with a business commission led by Liang Shaozhen, vice executive director of Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce for Overseas Chinese Enterprises. It will take only 3 hours from Guizhou to Guangzhou upon the new railway's accomplishment.

Now there are only two common railways connecting Guangzhou and Guizhou. One runs through Hu'nan province with 1560 kilometers distance needing over 22 hours to get to the destination. The other running through Guangxi's Liuzhou city is 1490 kilometers long and takes over 27 hours.

Actually the linear distance from Guizhou to Guangzhou is only some 700 kilometers.

Investment for the 820-kilometer speed railway under plan is 18 billion yuan (2,576 million USD), said Lin. It will take only some 3 hours to get to Guangzhou from Guizhou at a high speed of 250 kilometers.

Guangdong would benefit mostly from the project after its completion, Lin remarked. Also transportation and logistics would also boom in Guangzhou as the central city of the Pan Pearl River Delta.
