In order to against the increasing risk of privacy leak on the internet and provide a more safe internet for Guangdong’s netizens, Guangdong police officially launched two new internet police: “Qing Qing” and “Lang Lang” (Qing Lang (清朗) means clear and bright in Chinese) on December 25.

According to Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, “Qing Qing” and “Lang Lang” are the upgrading internet police who have four functions on anti cyber crime:
1)“Qing Qing” and “Lang Lang” can eliminate illegal or unreal information on the internet in real time. Moreover, the online police will issue warning to the publisher or restrict the publishers’ right, according to dangerous level.
2)The online police will handle relevant case according to law.
3)Besides fight cyber crime, Guangdong police also cooperate with online shopping platforms and online payment platforms that “Qing Qiang” and “Lang Lang” will protect netizens’ property from online fraud.
4)Last but not least, they will also protect privacy and personal information.
Furthermore, Guangdong police have established Security Threat Response Manager (STRM) of Guangdong’s cyber security (www.gdcert.com.cn).
According to Guangdong police’s introduction, Guangdong suffers more than 10 million cyber attack daily.
It is reported that the main tasks of STRM are issuing early warning of the risks of network security, providing consultancy and organizing cyber expert to handle cyber crime and publishing latest information of cyber security.
This year, Guangdong police launched “Anwang 2016” to against the increasing personal privacy leak and telecommunication fraud. More than 4000 cases about cyber crimes are cracked down, while more than 15 thousands suspects are arrested. A total of 490,000,000 pieces of personal information have been found leaked, stolen and sold.

Besides, more than 360 telephone card channel sellers who involve in black-card crimes (black cards refer to telephone cards that do not pass real name registration) have been ferreted out and about 330 suspects have been arrested. Over 100,000 black telephone cards have been seized.
In another campaign against hacker attacks, the police has detected more than 30 cases, arrested more than 60 suspects and dealt with websites that offer computer hacking program and teach hacking methods.
It is reported that Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department is going to improve Guangdong’s cyber security in the future and provide a more safety online environment for the netizens in Guangdong.
