The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou was formally inaugurated today (July 3), becoming the 33rd foreign consulate-general of the south China city.
The Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development, Mr. Erik Solheim announced the official opening of the new Consulate General.

Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua gave a welcoming address, saying, in 2007, the trade volume between Guangdong and Norway reached 655 million USD, an increase of 24% over the previous year. And the bilateral link will be further strengthened with the opening of the new office.
Norwegian Consul-General Tormod C. Endresen revealed that Norway is looking forward to cooperate with South China in offshore oil and gas exploration, in the marine sector and also in environmental technology.
The office is at the CITIC Plaza, where the Swedish and Finnish Consulate Generals are located. The new office will serve the Norwegian citizens in Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi and Fujian. The issue of visa to Norway for Chinese citizens in the above-mentioned four provinces has not started yet.
