At present, driving from Guangzhou to Guizhou takes 2 days. And in 2 or 3 years, the drive will be only 4 hours with the Guiyang-Guangzhou Expressway, the construction of which will be started soon. Besides this expressway, Guangzhou and Guizhou also signed contracts to launch 42.6 billion RMB worth of projects, covering agriculture, energy, green economy, tourism, logistics and urban construction.

Zhang Dejiang, Party Secretary of Guangdong, Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong met with Governor Lin Shusen of Guizhou province, who worked in Guangzhou for years and knew Guangdong very well. Zhang said the two neighboring provinces had a very long cooperation relation and hope the cooperation to expand under the Pan Pearl River Delta cooperation framework.

Improving the transportation infrastructure is now on top of the work chart of Guizhou, which, said Lin, will lower the goods transportation cost and then attract more Guangdong enterprises to relocate their plants in Guizhou.

For Guangdong, Guizhou is its biggest power supplier among the provinces in west China. This year, Guangdong buys over 22 million kwh of power from Guizhou and the supply will increase to 32 million in 2010.
