Huang Mengla was born in 1980 in Shanghai. He is one of the most active contemporary violinists in China. His brilliant technique and unique performance techniques have captivated audiences throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

In 2002, Huang Mengla won the first prize of the 49th Paganini International Violin Competition, where he was also awarded the Renato De Barbieri Memorial award for the best interpretation of Paganini's caprices. The well-known British magazine Gramophone remarked "His talents are fast becoming recognized worldwide."
