2024 Guangzhou Marathon concludes with records shattered and joyful scenes along iconic city landmarks

On the morning of December 8, the 2024 Guangzhou Marathon officially kicked off at 7:30 a.m. From the South Square of Tianhe Sports Center, 26,000 runners from around the world began their journey toward the finish line at Haixinsha. 

Along the 42.195 km course, participants experienced iconic landmarks and historical cultural sites in Guangzhou, with the scenic Pearl River bearing witness to their sweat and perseverance. 

Runners charged forward toward the sun, with some wheelchair athletes striving hard and some competitors showcasing unique outfits to express individuality.

Ethiopian runner Gebise Lelisa Debele crossed the finish line first, claiming victory with a time of 2:06:28. This not only set his personal best but also broke the Guangzhou Marathon's all-time record.
