US has begun marketing Venezuelan oil globally, with proceeds first settling in US-controlled accounts

The White House claims the United States has already begun marketing Venezuelan oil in global markets after sanctions left millions of barrels stranded in storage.

On Jan 7, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed in a press briefing that US-approved commodity traders and major banks are handling sales, with proceeds settling in US-controlled accounts.

The initial release involves 30–50 million barrels.
