Now we're in Jun'an, Foshan! And we've just caught the super lively Guandi & Houwang Parade! It's a beloved local tradition, with over 170 years of history.
In ancient China, people lived in dread of floods. They sought divine protection by praying to deities such as Guandi and Houwang. Eventually, the festival was shifted to the ninth lunar month, better weather, better timing for farming, and way more fun to celebrate!
This year, they've added the "Caishen Meal" (God of Wealth Meal), a special charity feast of 12 dishes, each carrying a meaningful blessing. Starting October 24, the parade runs for 17 days. Want to feel the fun and blessings? Hurry to Jun'an, Foshan!
