As of 18:00 on July 25, Foshan in South China's Guangdong Province has reported over 3,600 confirmed cases of chikungunya fever (CHIKF) across five districts. Based on the current cases, none have developed into severe forms.
CHIKF is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes and primarily presents with fever, joint pain, and skin rashes. Foshan is now making every effort to prevent and eliminate mosquitoes. Communities, hospitals, and other organizations are working together to create a barrier against the epidemic.
The current prevention and control efforts for CHIKF in Foshan are at a critical stage. Moving forward, the focus will be on cutting off community transmission and preventing the spread of the epidemic. The public doesn't need to worry excessively, but should take appropriate personal precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
